What’s going on: Melbourne International Film Festival is one of the oldest in the world. That in itself is pretty impressive! But you’re not going to go just because it has been running for more than 60 years, you’re going to go because they showcase the best in current cinema from around the world. Seriously, get your MIFF on!

 

Melt Away Chocolate Festival Melbourne

What’s going on: This weekend is going to be chock-a-block with tastings, tours, workshops, food, bevs and entertainment! There is something for every style of choc lover – so perhaps a chocolate making workshop would interest you. Or Belgian beers paired with pralines might be more your bag. And if you’ve got kids, don’t stress – there are crafty activities involving choccies to keep them entertained too! Ahhhhh how good is chocolate – all I can say is get ready for some serious endorphins to be released!

What’s going on: The Small Business Festival runs for the month of August across Victoria. This weekend I highly recommend you check out the Small Business Festival Hub where you can chat to a mentor for 45 minutes for FREE. If you have a new business idea or something troubling you, they are expert problem solvers and a fantastic resource for you to tap into.

 

Original Chai Co at QV Markets

What’s going on: Let’s be honest, Melbourne winters aren’t very fun – but it can be made that little bit better, with a hot cup of chai. Honestly, there’s something really warming about all those aromatic spices… mmmmm. Get your chai fix at the Original Chai Co’s humble little stall at the markets this weekend – One, two, chai chai chai!

 

Top Shelf

What’s going on: Top Shelf is a festival dedicated to premium and craft alcoholic beverages. Sample to your heart’s content, learn about and discover new products in the market and have a bit of fun doing so. The whistle will definitely be wet at this event and who knows you may discover your new favourite tipple! What an exciting prospect!

 

Trailer Park

What’s going on: Trailer Park is back at The Village again. This time it is a short stay but with a strong theme – Food of Origin. Each weekend will showcase food from a different continent – this time is it South and Central America – Olé Olé Olé! Drink specials and a pop-up bar in the Arbor are sure to keep the party going!

 

West Projections Night Walks

What’s going on: West Projections is a little festival on the West, that lights up the streets of Footscray after dark. See site-specific installations of video and sound all over the burb. Be guided by some of the artists themselves on the Night Walk tours.

Tip: Be sure to RSVP as spots are limited. If you miss out on the tour, never fear, you can still wander the streets and check out the installations – just jump on the website to see where the sites are located.

Tram Fest – musical trams
